Graphics Engineer

 

Location: Newport Beach, CA or New Orleans, LA

inXile entertainment is looking for a talented engineer that can bridge the gap between the technical and artistic part of game development. The Graphics Engineer will work closely with all departments to ensure both visual fidelity and optimized presentation is achieved on multiple platforms including VR.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the art and engineering teams to develop proper methods and best practices for art asset development in Unity and/or Unreal Engine 4.

  • Identifying, implementing, or inventing the correct technical approach to be able to render the Art Director's vision for a project.

  • Provide support for tools used by the art team; troubleshoot issues, develop extra features to aid in workflow, etc.

  • Develop artist-driven workflows, automation tools, content pipelines, and asset management.

  • Research cutting edge technology in real time rendering and interactive entertainment such as new upcoming engine features, general rendering techniques, new tools, middleware solutions, etc.

  • Writing well documented and optimized code in C++.

  • Debugging minor and major bugs and performance issues on multiple platforms such as Xbox, PC, etc.

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of professional experience in the video game or related industry.

  • Strong knowledge of C++ with the ability to implement Object Oriented Programming model system designs.

  • Ability to communicate well with team members across all departments including Engineering, Art, Design, Production, and QA.

  • Good foundation of 3D math concepts and algorithms used in real-time 3d applications (rendering techniques, linear algebra, shaders, etc.).

Desired:

  • 3 years of professional experience in the video game or related industry.

  • Experience working with Unreal Engine 3 or 4.

  • Experience in other programming languages in addition to C++.

  • Experience working with external APIs or SDKs.

  • Programming skills in any of the following areas: AI, graphics, tools, user interface, web development.
