Creating a Choice-Driven Song

Wasteland 3 features a unique take on the classic "where are they now" epilogue. We don't just show what became of the characters and towns you came across and results of the decisions you made (although we do that too), but we took it a step further to weave together two big pieces of the Wasteland experience: choice & consequence and music.

Creating a modular piece of music that would piece together based on your in-game actions and still sound like a song was no simple feat, and Audio Director Alexander Brandon has an article up on Audiokinetic with some of the technical knowhow needed to make it happen.
